Christine Villa is the Founding Editor of a bi-annual video journal called Frameless Sky. Issue 18 of Frameless Sky was released earlier in 2023, presenting haiku and other short poems on the theme of Family.
The video for this issue is presented in black and white, featuring photos by Susan Aurinko which resonate with the theme. The poems and photos, together with a restrained musical soundtrack, combine to give the video an almost hypnotic aesthetic that’s reminiscent of an art house movie.
Here are two haiku from the video about parents observing their children. While not stated explicitly, love for the child shines through in both poems.

Mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children. People gathered together to celebrate, or to remember those who have passed. These poems capture the everyday experience of family.
