Stu Larsen: Solitude, Queensland

After spending February 2024 in Tasmania (see my earlier post), Stu Larsen drove north for three days to his home State of Queensland, Australia. He spent March at Possum Park near the town of Miles. The location was special for Stu as he used to stay there on family holidays in his childhood.

In March, Queensland is coming out of summer into autumn but the weather can still be hot. The midday temperatures can be uncomfortably high, which might explain why the video for this month features the sun low in the sky and shadows long on the ground – or perhaps Stu just felt the soft light suited the mood of his song.

The demo for Stu’s new song, Shelter, was produced using keyboard rather than guitar as was the case on his two previous recordings. The song builds into a gently compelling anthem of hope for anyone seeking shelter from a storm in difficult times.
