Robyn Rowland at Brush With Poetry

Dr Robyn Rowland AO will be the featured poet for this month’s Brush With Poetry at the Black Swan Gallery and Café in Binalong, New South Wales. The date to remember is Sunday 29 July 2018. Please arrive around 1:30pm for a 2:00pm start. Coffee, wine and cake will be available during the afternoon.

Robyn Rowland is an Irish-Australian dual-citizen who has been visiting Ireland annually for thirty-five years and now lives half-time in Connemara. She also regularly visits and works in Turkey.

Previously Professor of Social Inquiry at Deakin University, Robyn has published thirteen books: three academic titles and ten books of poetry, most recently Mosaics From The Map (Doire Press, Ireland), and her bi-lingual This Intimate War Gallipoli/Çanakkale 1915 – İçli Dışlı Bir Savaş: Gelibolu/Çanakkale 1915, with Turkish translations by Mehmet Ali Çelikel.

You can learn more about Robyn’s writing and sample her poems here. Here are some lines from Robyn’s poem, Night Ravings:

Silence made them edgy.

Bombardment, thunderous and rattling,

was the song by day and by night.

Torrents of metal shards

were new birds in their skies.

While Robyn Rowland will be the featured poet, Brush With Poetry is an open mic event that offers a mix of poetic styles. Convened by award-winning bush poet, Robyn Sykes, Brush With Poetry is always an entertaining afternoon. Entry is free though donations are appreciated.
